DIY Bathroom Remodel – How To Do It On A Budget

Is your bathroom outdated? Are you worried about how your bathroom looks and do you want to change it? We all love a stylish, bright bathroom. Bathroom remodelling can be costly and exhausting, but it is possible.

There are many things you can do to give your bathroom a fresh look and feel. In no time, you can make a relaxing, happy, and fun bathroom. These bathroom remodelling ideas and tips will inspire you and help you save money.

To achieve the look you desire, create a mood board

Create a mood board with your favourite colours, textures, and patterns. You can make it as easy as the one shown above.

Many of us have trouble seeing the whole picture. Choosing the right colours and styles for your bathroom can help you see the big picture.

Create a colour palette. Which colours are your favourites and which colours complement each other?

Consider textures. Consider what kind of flooring will look best with your cabinets. You can also add texture to your bathroom with bath rugs and towels that are patterned. Mixing different metals like gold, silver, and copper can be very beneficial. You can easily create a mood board for your bathroom remodelling DIY project with this free tool.

You can use free mood board templates to design your bathroom remodelling. This softer mood board was created by me for free.

Mixing and matching colours, textures, accessories and bathroom fixtures will give you a better idea about what to buy and what to repurpose.

CHEAP BATHROOM REMODEL IDEAS

There are many things you can do to make your bathroom more affordable. After you have created your mood board and design, you can choose the right fit from this long list.

1. BUDGETED MAKEOVER OF A BATHROOM FLOOR

Replace those vinyl floors from the '80s.  Are you looking for a floor that isn't too boring but also on a budget? There are a million options for affordable flooring that will look modern and unique. Vinyl flooring is low-cost and comes in many styles and colours. They look just like tiles and wood. They are lightweight and easy to install. The greyish colour matches our original bathroom design perfectly.

Your bathroom floor should be painted. It might seem that replacing the bathroom floor isn't the most important task in your remodelling project. You might consider painting your bathroom floor. This DIY project is much easier than replacing the entire floor.

It can take a few hours to apply a reliable primer and waterproof flooring & outdoor paint. This is a quick and easy way to transform your bathroom floor.

Refinish your wood floor. HGTV shows you how many times wood floors are saved and brought back to life. Protect your beautiful wood floors with a fresh coat of enamel and a new stain.

2. REPLACE THE BATHROOM MAT

A bathroom rug or mat refresh is a great way to add style and texture to your bathroom. Bathroom rugs are available in a variety of patterns and prices so you don't have to settle for boring ones. I chose to have some fun with the neutral floor by adding a black and white Boho bathroom rug.

3. UPDATE THE TOILET PAPER HOLDER & TOWEL RACKS

Another quick and inexpensive way to renovate your bathroom is to install a new towel and toilet paper holder. There are many materials you can choose from, including silver, gold and copper. These small pieces can be mixed and matched to create a stylish and refreshing bathroom.

I bought a towel rack and toilet paper holder set with strong adhesive. This will allow me to keep the bathroom walls from getting damaged. The stainless steel material is both waterproof and rustproof and easy to install.

4. INSTALL AN INEXPENSIVE SHOWER PANEL

You should replace the entire shower system if it is damaged or cracked. There are many options for inexpensive shower and bath panels.

Instead of spending a lot on tiles and hiring people to install them, opt for lightweight, inexpensive bath panels. These panels look great and are much easier to use. They are easy to put together because of their adhesive properties.

Remodel your bathtub or shower. You can scrub and paint your shower if it is in good condition. This will help you save money as well as the cost of installation.

5. UPDATE YOUR SHOWER HEAD

It is a smart idea to change your old showerhead to a low-flow one. It can be matched with the towel rack or the toilet holder. Low-flow showerheads can be stylish and affordable. You can also control the water flow. This saves money and helps the environment.

6. BATHROOM WALL IDEAS FOR A BUDGET

Consider wallpaper over tiles. Wallpapers are back! Wallpapers are back and they're super trendy. You can choose from bold geometric patterns or nature-calling floral and unlimited colours.

Bathroom wallpapers can be as affordable as tiles and are much more cost-effective than tile. You can choose waterproof wallpapers or a peel-and-stick style. These wallpapers can be easily applied and removed so that you can update your bathroom walls whenever you want.

I picked a geometric boho design from Roommates.

You can stick the backsplash on your wall by peeling and sticking. These tiles look exactly like real tiles. They are easy to install and come in panels. They are made of lightweight plastic and have adhesive at the back.

Our bathroom has a grey peel-and-stick subway backsplash. It's still a good choice, but I would like a brighter bathroom wall. I plan to change it to the white and black geometric wallpaper soon.

7. SWITCH YOUR SOAP DISPENSER

Switching out an old soap dispenser is another budget-friendly bathroom upgrade. It's much easier to add colour to your bathroom than just looking at the label on a bottle.

The bathroom I designed needed a little rose-gold colour so I selected this adorable white-rose gold soap dispenser.

8. MINI POTS PAINTED AND ADDED GREENERY

Decorate your bathroom after you have completed the remodel. Greens are a great way to bring nature inside. To give it a little colour, I used mini faux succulents in our small bathroom.

It was a lot of fun to make small changes in my bathroom. These DIY ideas are equally useful in guest bathrooms, master bathrooms, or small spaces.

Whatever your bathroom size, it is important to start with the design. This will help you decide what colours, patterns, and items to purchase.
